6th Class Work at Home – Week: June 2nd – June 5th 2020

When books are being collected from the school at the prescribed times for each class level during the week beginning Jan 11th, each pupil will receive a username and password which will allow them access to Microsoft Office365 – this online resource will allow each child access a range of Microsoft features such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook (email) and Microsoft Teams.

On Fri. 5th June school will open for 6th class pupils for a limited time period (12.30-1.30pm). We are asking you to return the History & Geography book rentals , school library books, class novels (The Silver Sword & Guns of Easter) and school musical instruments on this day. If you have Religion (Grow in Love 6) or the 6th class Starlight English reader that you would like to donate to the school we will also gratefully accept these on the day. On that day we will also return any tour monies you have paid (including deposits which Tayto Park refunded).

Duolingo for schools- We are continuing to use this website for Irish. Each pupil has been assigned a username and password.
Each teacher has set up a class list with usernames & passwords. To access this a parent must email your class teacher firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and we will forward the details to you. There are different levels in this- we will continue on to the 2nd level this week.

Make an iceberg in your freezer
Partially fill bucket with tap water.
Place it on a level surface.
Place iceberg in bucket of water.
Add water from a jug until the water is all the way to the brim.
Observe the ice floating with the top of iceberg above the surface of the water.
Observe closely as iceberg melts.
Extension activity: Research “floating”, Archimedes and buoyancy
Explore differences between Arctic ice and Antarctic ice.
Draw/Paint/Colour/Sketch your name on an A4 piece of paper.
