Revise the prayers before and after Communion.

Say a Hail Mary to celebrate May as the month of Holy Mary.

Small World: Bealtaine (Meaning the month of May in Irish.)

Become familiar with some traditions and games associated with May Day in the past in Ireland.

Encourage your child to re-enact some May Day traditions at home (e.g. laying flowers on doorsteps or decorating the May Bush).

Art:

Pick a bunch of spring flowers (such as tulips, daffodils, daisies, dandelions, bluebells etc.)  in the garden/park. Ask your child to display and arrange the flowers in a bunch or in a vase.

Place the flowers in front of your child and ask them to draw the flowers exactly as they see them in still life on a blank sheet and colour.

Try and do 60 minutes of exercise each day.

  • RTE Home School  – will broadcast over an hour of “school on TV” to support primary school children and their parents at home. It will run from 11-12 Monday to Friday on RTÉ 2, with a shorter “catch-up” segment later in the afternoon. It will be aimed particularly at children in 1st to 6th class.

  • Cúla4 on TG4 provides plenty of Gaeilge programmes which children can watch to keep up their Gaeilge learning.
